It looks like Rush Hour fans are going to get the sequel they’ve been asking for.

In speaking to the ESPN podcast The Plug, Chris Tucker confirmed that a fourth installment was in the works, saying simply, “It’s happening.”

“This is gonna be the rush of all rushes,” he said. “Jackie [Chan] is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it.”

Chan himself said last October that there was a chance the franchise would be returning.

“For the last seven years, we’ve been turn[ing] down, turn[ing] down the script,” Chan said during an appearance on The Cruz Show on Power 106. “But yesterday, we agreed.”

At the time, Chan said that the project would begin production in 2018, but only if Tucker signed on. He said that was still undecided at the time.

Now that Tucker is out here saying that the project has a green light, it looks like Rush Hour fans can look forward to the dynamic duo coming together at least one more time.

What about ‘Friday’?

During his appearance on the podcast, Tucker also spoke about the inspiration for his character, Smokey on Friday, but still refused to confirm if he would be down for another installment of the fan favorite flick.

It sounds like there’s only enough space in Tucker’s acting schedule for one sequel at a time anyway. It’s actually not all that surprising that Tucker would shoot down a Friday movie, since he had described the experience as “a moment in time” and said that he wasn’t sure he would ever return to it.

During the ESPN podcast, Tucker also told some stories about his relationship with the late Michael Jackson and his love of sports.
