Da Brat is taking her talents in the stage in a new adaptation of the cult classic, Set it Off and will reportedly play the role of badass bank robber Cleo.

Queen Latifah (Cleo), Jada Pinkett Smith (Stony), Kimberly Elise (T.T.) and Vivica A. Fox (Frankie) starred in the popular 1996 movie about four friends who turn to robbing banks.

The stage play, written, directed, and produced by Je’Caryous Johnson will feature Da Brat, Latoya LuckettDemetria McKinney and Kyla Pratt. But there’s been no confirmation on which roles Luckett, McKinny and Pratt will play.

–One hater learned the hard way that Michael B. Jordan’s Twitter clapback game is strong–

Da Brat took to Instagram to share her excitement:

“Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to finally reveal my amazingly talented AND gorgeous CAST!! OOOOOOW SHAT!!! A @jecaryous production,” she wrote on Instagram.

“SET IT OFF the stage play! Coming to a theatre near you!” she added. “Tickets are evaporating FAST!!! #setitoff #setitofflive #latoyaluckett #kylapratt#demetriamckinney #dabrat#setitoffthestageplay.”

Complex reported that Da Brat had been planning to play the character of Cleo ever since the time she was turned down for the original role.

Set it Off is my favorite movie of all time,” Da Brat’s statement read. “I couldn’t let it get away from me twice and had to jump at the chance. Je’Caryous Johnson presents Set It Off is a dream come true for me and I’m honored to bring it to fans across the country.”

Reboots are all the rage

From Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It on Netflix to a new season of Sister, Sister currently in production, and a live-action The Lion King starring Beyonce the power of the reboot is alive and well!

And we hope the rumors about a Martin return are true.

Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell-Martin, and Tichina Arnold were all smiles in Burbank, CA as they dished about the possibility of a Martin reboot. The popular sitcom aired on Fox for five seasons from 1992 to 1997.

In the video clip where TMZ caught up with the three stars, Campbell-Martin was even wearing a sweatshirt that said “That ain’t no damn puppy,” a nod to a line from a hilarious episode that every die-hard Martin fan remembers.

Filmed outside of a steakhouse, the three actors played coy at first when a TMZ producer asked if a reboot was in the works. Lawrence threw up his hands and said “Never say never,” as the trio traded knowing grins.

Arnold avoided the question, but mentioned new beginnings. Campbell-Martin was a little more blunt, talking directly into the camera and saying “We can’t tell y’all shit.”

When prodded for more information about how a reboot would compare to the original, Lawrence  said “We have to be funny, be entertaining and give people heart-felt stories.”

Though none of the actors said that a reboot was definitely happening, we hope their answers to TMZ’s questions all pointed to a yes.
