Black History Month is in full force! Events that acknowledge, honor and celebrate the history, achievements and contributions of Black people living in the United States continue to take place across the Lower Hudson Valley.
Read on for three events, happening this week and next, that are worth checking out before the month ends.
Now available for viewing at the New Rochelle Public Library, The Lincoln Park Conservancy, Inc. put together an exhibit celebrating the 2025 theme for Black History Month: African Americans and Labor. The exhibit includes first-hand and archival photographs of Black entrepreneurs and their businesses in New Rochelle and across the country.
(This exhibit is a great complement to Black History & Culture: Eyes Wide Open, the Black History Month exhibit currently on display at Bethany Arts Community in Ossining.)

Join Yonkers City Council president Lakisha Collins-Bellamy for a celebration also in honor of African Americans and Labor, the 2025 theme for Black History Month. It will center on the history of local unions. The event is open to the public and includes light refreshments.
When: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20.
Where: The Ceremonial Courtroom at City Hall, 4th floor, 40 South Broadway, Yonkers.

Celebrate civil rights, social justice and liberation with District 16 Legislator Shanae Williams, District 1 Councilwoman Deana Robinson and Yonkers Arts, who are holding a free poetry jam in Yonkers for Black History Month. In addition to attendees, the event is recruiting poets to perform.
When: 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21.
