Wilburd family to attend Arkansas screening of High Horse: The Black Cowboy – thv11.com

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Cinema Society (ACS) and NOIRE magazine are teaming up to host a special screening of Peacock’s new show High Horse: The Black Cowboy!
According to ACS, the screening is set to include an episode of High Horse, followed by a question and answer session with members of the Wilburd family who are from Cabot.
The Wilburd family is featured in the show and during the Q&A, they will chronicle their experiences as Black cowboys. They will also discuss co-starring in the series.
“Whether yesterday or today, the stories of the American West go beyond John Wayne films or Taylor Sheridan shows,” said Arkansas Cinema Society Director of Outreach Kody Ford. “We look forward to expanding this conversation by screening High Horse with our friends at NOIRE and chatting with the Wilburd family about their experiences as modern rodeo cowboys.”
The new Peacock docuseries, which is from Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, examines the role of Black cowboys in the shaping of the American west and explores their modern-day cultural impact.
“While Arkansans may be familiar with the legendary U.S. Marshal Bass Reeves, the contributions of Black Americans goes far beyond his story,” ACS said in a press release. “High Horse delves into this rich legacy that has been overlooked in popular culture and American history.”
ACS said that the show works to explore the Old West, but also aims to put a spotlight on modern cowboys, such as the Wilburd family.
The screening is set to take place at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in the Lecture Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 10. Doors for the show will open at 5:30 p.m. and the screening is set to begin at 6 p.m.
Admission to the show is free. Those looking to attend the show can reserve tickets by clicking here.
