On Thursday, James Clyburn added his voice to the many people who have called for Rep. John Conyers Jr. to step down amid accusations of sexual harassment.

Clyburn, the assistant Democratic leader, is part of the Congressional Black Caucus with Conyers but added his voice to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Paul Ryan in calling for Conyers’ resignation.

It’s a departure from what Clyburn said just a day prior, suggesting that Conyers was held to a different standard than other public figures accused of sexual misconduct. “Who elected them?” he told a reporter Wednesday.

This after Conyers stepped down this week from his position as ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee.

Conyers has denied the allegations of sexual misconduct being leveled against him but did admit to settling a wrongful dismissal complaint against him in 2015.

Conyers was accused of sexual misconduct related to the complaint, and since then, a second accuser has come forward saying that Conyers made unwanted sexual advances toward her while she was working in the state office.
