Tamron Hall Lands on Both Feet with New Disney Partnership for Talk Show

Tamron Hall just made a deal with Disney/ABC and is set to host her own daytime talk show.

“I’m so thrilled to partner with Disney ABC to create a daytime television show that’s unconventional, fun, intimate and sometimes even raw,”  Hall said in a Wednesday, Aug. 8 statement obtained by Deadline. “My new partners appreciate and respect the relationship I’ve built with my audience and know that if we create television worth watching, they’ll join us for the ride. I’m so grateful and excited for this next chapter. The landing makes the leap of faith so worth it.”

William Burton, senior vice president, ABC Daytime, said “Tamron’s wealth of experience and unique perspective is needed in today’s daytime landscape” and added, “we look forward to developing a daily destination showcasing her spirit, boundless enthusiasm and powerful ability to engage with viewers.”

Hall’s new ABC deal comes after The Hollywood Reported said last year that Hall was set to be linking up with The Weinstein Company for a talk show. The show was set to feature human interest stories and current events as well as extensive interviews with tastemakers and celebrities alike. The journalist was supposed to co-create and executive produce the series as well.

However, that was before the company’s founder, Harvey Weinstein, was ousted in a scandal that re-launched the #MeToo movement. Weinstein had been accused of various degrees of sexual assault for decades in October 2017. He’s since been arrested on rape and criminal sex act charges.

Yet AdWeek reported last fall that Hall was still pushing ahead with her plans for a talk show — it just wasn’t necessarily going to be with TWC. And now, it’s all steam ahead with her ABC show, which will see her create a daytime format for syndication. This will be her first new TV program after NBC and Hall parted ways last year, making way for Megyn Kelly to have her own talk show during the third hour of the “Today Show.”
